Sigandur (Sighandur, Sighandoor ) temple in Karnataka. India.

This is the first time we are going to this place. We have collected some data:

Its located in the backwater of river Sharavathi.
After we cross Sharavathi river we get a village called Kalasavalli belonging to a place called Tumari.

Just 10KM from this place, we get Goddess Chaudamma ( Chowdamma ) temple.

To cross the river Shravathi, we have to use the launch service( ferry ) and the service is available only till 5pm.

If you are coming here from other states or country, you will need to first come to the main city called Sagar which is 350Kms from Bangalore [Bengaluru].

there is a temple of Choudeshwari…go to Shimoga n to Sagar ,from Sagar u will get bus to Singandur,u must leave sigandur within 4.30 pm as u have to cross backwaters by taking a ferry…….if u hav good sweaters,coats..it will b fun to have a jolly trip with bikes

No biking for now. Have planned to go by bus. What if we get late while coming back ?
No ferry! Where to stay?

It means, we have to get back(cross Sharavathi river) by 4:30

There are no Hotels at Singaduru, if ur lucky u may get bus/LMV to Kolluru which is around 51 kms from Siganduru orelse u have no option other than staying at Siganduru Choudeshwari temple.It advisible to carry some Good Shawls as much as u can ,because u will face very low temperatures around 7 – 10 degress.Carry drinking water,snacks,match box.

It will take around 6 hours to reach Siganduru from Davangere,so leave as early as u can.

U may also visit a historical place ‘ikkeri’ in the outskirt of Sagar town,on the singanduru road only.

Is it a place?

Historical place of any king ?

‘Ikkeri’ is a historical place ruled by Nayaka’s, n the famous king was Shivappa nayaka. Here u can get information about ikkeri http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikkeri

n u can carry not only sweaters,carry woollen caps,cotton for ear’s,2 shawls for each person,a mosquito coil is must.
