First thing first: Apply clutch before applying the gear or changing the gear.
Usually there’ll be 5 gears and 1 reverse gear.
———————————————————-
1st gear | 3rd gear | 5th gear
Left Sub Neutral | Neutral | Left Sub Neutral
2nd gear | 4th gear | Reverse
———————————————————-
You need to learn dealing with gear of your car until you can do it without looking down at the gear system or near your feet.
Whenever you want to slow down the car: you may be in traffic or going against uphill, you need to get back to 2nd gear; as there would be more power in lower gears.
The gearing system is in H shape. The middle horizontal bar is neutral.
In CAR, unlike in bikes, you can directly switch from 5th gear to 2nd gear or from 4th to 2nd and or in any combination without creating any wear and tear or friction.
Modern day Cars are designed to handle the speed when you change gear in an random fashion.Start the car in 1st gear, after you start moving smoothly change it to 2nd. Once you are comfortable and want to move faster increase the gear. at the top gear CARs will usually be economic in terms of fuel.
